Selection notes

Why Ipswich's fast start matters

Ipswich have adapted quickly to life back in the Premier League, accumulating nine points from their opening seven fixtures. That tally is significant: historically, promoted teams with nine or more points at this stage have a strong survival rate, with only eight of 36 going on to be relegated. The early points buffer gives the squad confidence and breathing room.

Nottingham Forest, by contrast, have struggled under Oliver Glasner, picking up just five points. The pressure is mounting on the manager to turn things around, and a Friday night fixture at Portman Road represents a tricky test. Forest will need to be organised and disciplined to contain an Ipswich side buoyed by their start.

The contrast in form sets up an intriguing tactical battle. Ipswich will likely look to impose themselves early, using the home crowd to their advantage. Forest, meanwhile, may seek to frustrate and hit on the counter. The midfield battle will be key, with both sides eager to control possession and tempo.
