Predicted Chelsea XI vs Liverpool: McFarlane Makes Key Changes with £30m Star Starting at Anfield

Chelsea boss James McFarlane set to make four changes for the crucial Premier League clash at Anfield, with £30m star included in the starting XI.

Chelsea face a daunting trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool this weekend, with the Blues desperate to end a six-match losing streak in the Premier League. After a humiliating defeat to Nottingham Forest that all but ended their hopes of Champions League qualification, head coach James McFarlane is expected to ring the changes.

According to our sources, McFarlane will make four alterations to the side that lost at the City Ground, with a £30m star being handed a start in a bid to reignite Chelsea’s attacking threat.

Goalkeeper and Defence

Kepa Arrizabalaga is set to retain his place in goal after a mixed performance against Forest. In defence, McFarlane is likely to switch to a back four, with Reece James returning at right-back after being rested. The centre-back pairing will see Thiago Silva partnered by Wesley Fofana, who impressed in training this week. Ben Chilwell is expected to start at left-back, replacing Marc Cucurella.

Midfield

The biggest change comes in midfield, where £30m summer signing Romeo Lavia is set to make his first Premier League start. The Belgian international, who joined from Southampton, will anchor the midfield alongside Enzo Fernández. The attacking midfield role goes to Mason Mount, who has been deployed in a more advanced position recently.

Attack

Up front, McFarlane is expected to start with a front three of Raheem Sterling on the left, Mykhailo Mudryk on the right, and Nicolas Jackson leading the line. However, there is a late fitness test for Christopher Nkunku, who could replace Jackson if deemed ready.

Predicted Chelsea XI vs Liverpool

This lineup represents a bold statement from McFarlane, who knows that anything less than a win at Anfield could spell the end of his tenure. With Liverpool in fine form, Chelsea will need to be at their very best to get a result.
